I am asking this question for a friend. He has a 94GT and ever since he had a new gear installed he has a poping/clunking noise coming from the rear. He says it only happens when he drags the clutch a little to long. any help would be appreciated.

Thats a tough call. Got any more info on the car? Is it lowered? Does it have stock rear control arms? Does this only happen when the car is launched hard?

Things to look at when clunking is heard from the rear would be control arm bushings (most likely), loose sway bar bolts and/or broken sway bar, worn-out upper shock mount bushings, worn-out shocks (bottoming-out on acceleration causing the diff to hit the pinion snubber). Maybe even a bad u-joint.

Rear control arm bushings, the control arms are shifting on the bolts. If you want to make sure pull a bolt and see if there's wear on the threads.

I would like help too, I hear my rear end make noice on takeing off, almost sounds like something is shifting? this just started after I lower her. I went under the car a few weeks back and found teh quads bolts were not super tight, I tightened them up last about a day and then the noise came back.. I know it is when the cars weight shifts around. I think I may pull the lowering springs out and see what happens... any thoughts?
