I am currently having trouble with my 94 Mustang GT....Was running perfect then started having issues starting and staying running. If car was left alone for 10+ hours would start back up just fine, but now wont start at all unless ether is sprayed and only stays running until you either let off gas petal or ether runs out. Very frustrated at this point! We have replaced everything and still wont start. - 2 new fuel pumps, fuel filter, plugs and wires, ccrm box, distributor, timing, ecu, coil pack, checked all grounds and injectors, its getting correct fuel pressure and fuel pump is working....dont know what else to do aside from scraping the car Any insight would be useful! thanks!

Try disconnecting the MAF and see if it does the same thing. Pull codes before you do it.

Ok, did this still same result only when it does start with the ether it runs like crap, where before it ran really well until the ether ran out. no codes to report

Are you getting a code 11?

With the key clicked forwards you should have attached a fuel pressure tester. Much cheaper and more conclusive than swaping fuel system components. When you verify around 38-40 psi at the rail then you look at the injectors. Injectors not firing would make me look at the engine computer.

The OBDI give a three digit code. Is code 11 the same as 111 pass?

You have changed a lot of parts. Were they all new? Pull the vacuum line from the FPR and check for any signs of fuel both smell or liquid. That seem to be the only item you haven't replaced. The problem definitely seems to be a fuel issue. Did you change something and then experience the problem or was it fine one day and crappy the next? Is the fuel filter facing the correct way? It's probably something simple but not obvious.

Oops i didn't read that correctly DUH...

If it were me i would be checking the computer for sure. Get a volt meter and pull an injector wire off and test it while the engines being cranked. But yeah The ECM (Computer) You have pressure at the line but the computer isn't telling the injectors to open. I would put money on it. (if i had any extra spare ca$h lying around)

Test the injectors with a noid light and if they are not firing check the injector harness connector. The OP said he changed the PCM?

Does your fuel pump prime when the ignition switch is moved to the ON position?

It was running fine, I put fuel in it and it started messing up the very next day, thought maybe I receieved bad fuel so I ran cleaner thru it and changed plugs and wires, started right up....drove it for a day with no issues then same problems all over again and now wont start at all. All parts that were replaced have been brand new except for computer. It was a backup computer we had off of another GT. I did put a upper and lower cobra intake and mass air meter on it but this was after it was already experiencing problems. I will check filter position and report back, have been trying to figure this issue out for 2 months now....has to be something I am missing.

Yes pump does prime up when ignition switch is turned on. This car was a v6 swap and I did run with the v6 pump for about 2 years. Pump was replaced with a GT pump....twice now in the last month

Yes, we changed out the computer one day just ruling out problems and it fired right up after different one was put in but then right back to same issues again...

Hmmmm.... until VERY recently, O-Really sold airtex too. You said up-top though , that you're getting good pressure.

You never did say if you got the "all clear" code from the EEC.

Maybe something in the wiring is causing the computer to crap out? has the wiring been spliced into? I had an issue once and it ended up being that i had clamped part of the harness between the engine and transmission. lol the heat caused the wires to eventually ground out.

No codes were reporting when we scanned after parts where put on, I do not have a personal code scanner so I was taking it to O'reillys after replacing parts and no codes were showing

Unsure of any splicing in harnesses, may have to go back thru and re-check all of that to make sure.

This response doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. If the EEC is working correctly then you should get the code 11 (111) mentioned above. I don't think we're getting very far with this particular line of questions/answers so here's my suggestion for pinning this thing down:

Run jrichker's checklist from TOP to BOTTOM. You will find it here:

http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/help-me-create-the-surging-idle-checklist.698148/

Read it through one complete time before starting.
