94 GT OVERDRIVE BUTTON

Hey guys. My overdrive button doesn't seem to do anything any more. It used to illuminate "OD Off" light. It won't even press down when I push on it and I don't think that I am able to turn it off or on. I am having an acceleration/rattle issue and I think the OD band is burned out but I need to turn it off to be sure. Is replacing the button enough or easy enough?
