buddies car started acting up. Only when its cold. It will hesitate and barely run under a load (it idles and revs up fine) but it you are at wot it will go like normal. Once the car warms up its fine. I was thinking either tps, maf, or computer related. check engine light is off and I dont have any way of scanning it.

I am having something of same problem. I have narrowed mine down to my Dist. I have replaced my IAC,Plugs,Wires,Cap, and rotor, Cleaned my MAF Done 3 fuel Mait serv so thats my thought. Might be my pick up coil on my dist.

I can mail your friend a paperclip and link for pulling the codes for free. Or reference the repair manual for a how-to.

I would indeed start with pulling codes. If this issue just started as ambient temps cooled off, I'd also take a peek at the calibration of the ECT and IAT (give yourself all of 1 minute to ohm both out) just to see if one is reading totally out of whack (but not tossing a code because it's within absolute spec).

I might also do a water test on the wires to see if any are leaking. Some issues are amplified when an engine is cold and though the issue is still present on a hot motor, it is not felt as much (making it seem like it got better).

Good luck.

how do you pull codes on it? i imagine jump the connector, my email is gfcobra@aol.com if you get a chance to send it please do. As it sits now I let it cool off and unplugged the tps... usually it wouldve acted it but did not do it with the tps unplugged. Not the best way to diagnose a problem but it definitely affected the symptons.

Here's some info on code retrieval. Do note that the self test connector on a 94-95 GT is on the passenger side of the engine compartment (not the drivers side, as some articles note).

Here's another site. The repair manual also outlines the procedure nicely.

I'd also want to take a look at the TPS signal-return while the car is acting up. The wiper might be screwed up (carbon-debris can affect the reading in some positions as they age).

Good luck.
