Some j.o. clipped my driver's side mirror while my 94 Cobra was parked, so now i have to replace it. Can someone tell me what my aesthetic options are for inexpensive mirrors? Which look nicer, the 94-95 finish or the 96-98?

Also has anyone tried these, not sure how they look so some pics on the car might help:

Thanks

same thing happened to me (except i clipped it backing into the garage). it just knocked the glass off but everywhere i went told me i had to replace the entire thing. i got quotes anywhere from $150-200. got on corral and got a 96-98 power mirror for like $35 shipped. i think im gonna get both painted before i put it on cause the new one is a shiny finish. im pretty sure even with getting it painted im gonna come out ahead as opposed to buying one from ford

Yeah, I need to replace the whole mirror housing since when the idiot hit my car the whole thing cracked off.

I hear the 96-98 mirror housings are a shinier black, do they look better than the 94-95 mirror housings?

My driver side mirror just fell off for the second time since I've owned the car Only the actual mirror though, not the whole piece and the first time I just bought the entire assembly from someone on here for around $35. This time I checked ebay and theres a lot listed for the same price range. I saw the mirrors you linked and considered em as well since they are so cheap, but I figured it would turn out nasty... Someone has to be the guinea pig I guess lol

Trav I'd go ahead and pull the mirror off and re-apply it soon. Both times mine have fallen off they jiggled like that and would fall off shortly after. Heh you think I would've learned after the first one!

as for ours vs. the 96-98, they really look the same until you put them side by side. and really since theyre on different sides of the car i dont know that youd even notice unless you were looking for it.

I might get flamed here but hear me out first. My first pick would be color paint matched stock, but.................

............. I don't think the ebay ones would look too bad if they were color matched to the car, especially if the car was white. The key is to get ride of that cheesy fake carbon fiber look.

But for $25 it's not a bad deal. I would get them, sand them and paint them gloss black. Maybe even bondo over the LED BS and paint....

I remember DJICE's thread. I was one of the few (only?) whom didnt mind those other mirrors. As long as a given mirror is wide enough (so I dont have to squirm to see a good chunk of what's out there because the mirror isnt big enough), I'm happy. Some of the aftermarket mirrors look kinda stunted.

They shine more, and they're textured, whereas ours are just flat.

I first noticed the '94/'95 mirror when my friend bought his '94; I had my '01 at the time and my other friend had a '96. I don't know if they're the same part, but '96-'98 looks the same as '99-'04.
And yes, they do look A LOT better. But if you switch, you'd better change both cause it'll look funny.

I saw a guy that had some of those ebay style mirrors on his car the other day. They looked really bad. They didn't even fit right. Rather than pointing straight out from the car they were tilted up. I would ck into going new aftermarket or used. Check with a local wrecking yard and see if they have a used one. If not a lot of times they can see you new aftermarket ones that will be better quality than ebay stuff and way cheaper than ford.
