I know the '94 rear ends are a little wider than the foxes', but they should still bolt up with no problems, right? Would the wider axle cause any suspension problems? Rear steer problems?

Any problems with the driveshaft?

I'm asking because I may be able to get a rear-end from a 94 cobra with 4.10's for free.

I have a Turbo Coupe rear axle which has the same width as a 94-98 Mustang. I have no problems other than the driver's side tire rubs a bit, but it would do that before the Turbo Coupe axle swap. If you have very wide rear tires you may see some rubbing.

Don't forget that the 94 and later cars were 5 lug, so plan a 5 lug conversion with your efforts.

You will need to change the brake master cylinder and brake proportioning valve since the rear brakes are disk units. See http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ for help with the brake issues.

86-98 has the Exact same rear axle assembly so it will bolt right up, the axles are 3/4" longer on the 94-98s to fit the disc brakes.

:nice: It sounds like this is being done for the gear alone (not 5 lug stuff), so this was my first thought for a reply as well.

If you want to keep your 4 lug wheels, the 87-88 Tbird Turbo Coupe axles are also 3/4" longer but are 4 lug. That will allow you to do the disk brake conversion and keep your 4 lug wheels.

If you use the disk brakes, you will also need to deal with the emergency brakes too. See http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ . I highly recommend that you throughly study this site, since the brake information is all in one place, accurate and complete.

Alternately, remove the 4 lug axles and drum brakes from your current rear axle and use them on the new axle assembly. It should be a one for one bolt up swap.
