I have a 1995 Mustang Gt, and want to drop in a big block. I was looking at the 427, 428, 429, and 460. I was told that the 460 was the way to go, but don’t know how much trouble it will to shoe horn it under the hood. I realize that there is going to be header engine mount, and hood clearance problems. Is there any other problems that will arise, is the 460 the way to go, and what year engine? Also I was going to run a hydraulic instead of an electrical system to save the major rewire headaches.

why the big block? I mean, there are plenty of ways to make tons of power without putting an aircraft carrier in your engine bay.....But if your so inclined, im sure many people have put them in.

How about a stroked 351w - you can get nearly the same amount of horsepower, way cheaper parts, and much less fabrication and head scratching to get the engine in. Check the forums on hardcore50.com to see what sort of power people are making.

As far as why a 460, I just always wanted to stuff a 460 in a Mustang ever since I started being interested in cars. I know that it would make my life so much easier stuffing a 460 into a 79-93 Mustang, but I like the 94-98 body style.

Dude right on, I have a 460 that I was goin to put into my 88 t-bird but idk anymore. Now that I think about it it would be sweet to roll around in a 94-98 gt with a 460 I hope you find the info on your project.

I talked to a guy over the weekend that said that he had a 428 in a 94 Mustang, but I think that a 460 is a bigger motor. Does anyone know if it will fit in a 95?

It will fit. I don't know what all is involved as I didn't have much time to talk to him. There's a couple pics of it in this thread..http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=642027

I'm pretty sure the DOHC 4.6 is as wide or wider than a 460. It will deffinetly fit. Have you ever heard of this car? Look at the specs on it.http://www.supercars.net/cars/702.html

Here are some engine pics of this 610c.i. monster

But yeah, plan on spending a ton of money to get a 460 project complete. If I ever get $20k burning a hole in my pocket, I'd look into squeezing a 514 in mine. Thats after of course getting an economical DD to replace it with.
