Hi, I'm buying a really nice full option white on tan leather 1995 GT. It is a 5 speed and I want to turn it into a full Cobra/Cobra R clone. It already has a Cobra R hood, Cobra front bumper(no fog lights), 95 real Cobra R wheels, white face gauges, and that is it. With the Cobra R hood and no foglights it already looks more like an "R" but I think they didnt have as many options so I probably just want to clone a normal Cobra. What else do I need to make the body and interior full Cobra so somebody couldn't tell the difference? I know they have the Cobra intake and 24 lb injectors but I already have a full fuel system and an Edelbrock intake. I really am just trying to make the body and interior full Cobra. I"m talking every last thing to. So, let me know every difference you can think of from GT to Cobra. Thanks!

most people frown on making a gt into a cobra clone to the extent of badges and all...

are you going to be trying to pass it off as a real Cobra?

That was the plan, I know it sounds cheesy but I'm not going to half ass it. I really want to do every possible thing so the ONLY thing it wont hve is the paperwork. The engine doesn't matter though because it will be getting a built 306 or 331 whenever I do the motor. And I know everyone will say just buy a real Cobra, but for the price I will have to pay around here and if I can find one in white, it is hard. I found a really nice GT and it is already about half done so it just would be easier.

I am pretty much against poser cars, but I will give you what I can think of right off my head. Besides the correct emblems the first thing exterior wise would be cobra brakes, the correct rear spoiler with 3rd brake light built in, put some fog lamps back in the front bumper. Interior wise, besides having the white gauges, the next thing I would look at is the airbag, real cobras say "COBRA" on the air bag.

I'm with the rest of these guys, nobody likes seeing a vehicle being passed off as something it isn't; that's a whole 'nuther thread. LOL BUT, if you are going to create a clone, you might as well do it properly and get all of the details correct.

Based on what I've seen, it seems like most of these "conversions" fail to upgrade the brakes (someone else mentioned it above) - it's a sure sign of a "clone." Well, not to mention the numbers on the actual VIN tags, but that's a given.
Goodluck with it...

does anybody else here think that cloning a cobra is flattery in its greatest form? i mean, putting GTR badges on a sentra is one thing, but a GT is much closer to a cobra than any other poser car

I'm kinda with the rest of these guys on the whole clone thing....but you seem to want to do it right so good luck. One thing I'm sure all Cobra owners ask is that the power level of the car match or exceed Cobra expectations.

Put a 351 in it and run with no A/C or stereo and you'll win my support for a clone!!!

The airbag, brakes, bumper cover and spoiler are the giveaways. Don't forget the rear seat delete.

I thought he was just going after a regular 94-95 cobra clone. If its a 95 Cobra R clone then there is more work. You will be ok in not running the fog lamps because they did not have them from the factory. Interior must be tan, have V6 cloth seats, no power windows or locks, no radio, no rear seat like said below, and lets not forget the 20gal fuel cell.

It will look like an 01, the 96-98 intake manifold won't work due to the different intake ports of the 99+ cylinder heads.

Posers cars are all over ebay. I was checking out some cheap 1968-70 'Stangs, Mopar stuff and guess what? Poser cars suck. Well now that you have the cosmetics,
how about those 4v heads, brakes, aluminum block, metal intake, hand built engine.. ect.

In order to truly clone a 94-95 cobra (which I have a 95 Cobra (Real)) you need alot of very expensive components. First, your cobra R hood would not be true 94-95 cobra. They had gt style hoods (but i hate mine im gonna change it soon). Next is a set of GT40 heads, and cobra upper and lower intake (not just some intake plaque). Then you need a full cobra brake system (large front rotors with dual piston "cobra" front calipers), then you need the valve cover decals to say it is a true svt cobra (ur not going to find these), also there is a decal on the brake booster that says cobra (also something u cant get) next is a cobra steering wheel where the running horse is replaced by "COBRA". then to the rearend, the trunklid has no brake light in it, it is a led bar recessed into a cobra specific spoiler. then the emblems (not a big deal but remember there was no snake in the grille). I think you would be better off adding things you like about the cobra to your car and just going custom. the parts will be expensive and probably hard to find in some cases. Also, if anyone finds out you are trying to pass off a clone as real, they will get mad, as would I.

I suppose all of you clone-haters would turn down the chance to own a kit-car Cobra on principle, yes? The only thing I dislike about clones is people getting suckered into buying a vehicle with the value misrepresented; otherwise, clones are cool.

I thinnk the hood, bumpers, spoilers and such are cool and look mean, so if u want to put that on ur car its cool. I just dont get why u must change the badging? I mean it will look just like a cobra and will have a good edge to it but then people will still know its a GT. I mean i dont get it there is nothing wrong with a GT man. Put some bolt ons on it and run mid 13s like me.
