I need some help. I went out to the car this morning and i cant get it to start. When i turn the key i can hear the starter click one time and then the alarm on car goes off. Factory alarm. Tried again and same result. If i turn the switch off on the fuse panel under the dash and try it, it will just click the starter really fast repeatedly. I checked dc volts on the battery and reading 12 with nothing on. it drops to 9.5 when i turn the ignition switch to the on position. If i turn the key to start it, it drops to 5vdc on the battery. I just replaced the battery about a month ago. Any ideas? Thanks

Also sometimes when i put my leads from + to - on the battery i get a chirp from the alarm. Also sometimes i hear a relay clicking rapidly from the fuse box.

Also anyone know what the toggle switch is on the fuse box?

*****Update******

I jumped the car and now it will start up. Getting 14vdc on the battery with it running. Now the airbag light is blinking 52.

Dead cell in your battery. I suggest you get it tested just to be sure. Code 52 is a stupid code, it's whining that power was cut when it didn't expect it to. Go HERE to get more info and how to clear the code. A paper clip to jumper the airbag diagnostic plug works really well.

I am about to leave to autozone to test it. I just bought it about a month ago and the prev owner said it would sometimes drain the battery. I just replaced the battery a month ago when i got it. I will let you know what they say about the battery. If it does have a bad cell is there anything that can cause it to go out?

I actually had a bad alternator keep killing my battery. There was a burnt diode inside that was somehow creating a small short thus draining the battery. All tests showed the alternator to be good but I went ahead and tore into it and saw the problem right away.

Just a thought. It would seem Advance still has a good "old fashion" alternator test machine and not some computerized junk!

Well I finally caught a glimpse of what is draining my battery. Every time I would do an amp draw on it, it would show .06 or so. Finally this morning I went out and it was dead. Checked and drawing 88m amps. Then I blew the fuse in my meter. Any ideas on what would draw that high? I am heading to the store in a bit to get some more fuses.

Ok so I got a new fuse and checked and with the car off I am drawing .9 amps. I started pulling fuses and found it was the 40 amp fuse to the ignition system and starter relay. I pulled the starter relay and the amp draw was the same. I noticed the other day I will get a door ding even with the key off so I started there. I pulled the ignition switch. Checked continuity on the terminals for each position. They all read good. I put everything back together and no amp draw. It disappeared again. I move the keyswitch without the key. Got the door ding and is barely went up. I am at a loss.
