Guys I need a little help with this thing. I just swapped a 5.0 into my 1995 v6 car. Cranked it up and have been messin with the timing and fuel pressure. I just cant quite make it idle. Runs great all the way down to idle. I cant find any vacuum leaks. I installed an aeromotive fuel system....well, the front half anyway. Is it a timing issue? And how do you see the timing mark? Its like I cant see it because of the accessories on the front of the engine.
For timing it, I can't remember exactly but I do know my timing light almost touches the alternator pulley. If you use a silver sharpie on your timing marks, it should make it easy to see the marks.
If you don't know where your timing is, that is where I'd start.
The base idle meaning idle speed? If thats what you are refering to, I havent messed with it. I figured it would already be set right. But it does act like it has to pump up the fuel pressure before it starts. Could also be timing, correct? That is, since the fuel pressure regulator is new.
Take notes on how many turns you make with the screws so you can get back to where you are now. There is also an idle bleed screw that you can adjust. I would not unscrew it more than 1.50 turns or it can cause a hanging idle.
you can also crank the motor over by hand while it is off. line up the timing marks and pull the dizzy cap and make sure you are in the ballpark of #1TDC
