What are the major difference between the 96-97gt and the 98gt, i see that the 98 makes a bit more hp, but from where, also when i look to aftermarket parts quite a few only apply to 96-97 and in some case it's seem harder to find for the 98...

so just curious from where those gain are from and if theres other stuff different about them

thanks

A change in the PCM program gives it the extra ponies.
Changes made in '98, here are some:
Fuel pump, dash clock removed, muffler hanger change, removal of engine bay cross bars.

Yes, there were 2 bars that were near the shock tower. I'm not sure if they were useful b/c they did remove them.

I have also heard that the '98 uses different fuel rails from the 96/97, I am not sure what else on the engine was different.

The console is different too. in 94-97 there was an ashtray, in the console and no cupholders. I believe that the cup holder was in the arm rest. But in 98' ford put cupholder on the console and bulit the ashtray in the council.

The fuel rail is different - the regulator is built in. I had to get a 97 fuel rail in order to use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Otherwise, the engine is the same.
