96-98 cobra 4.6? bottomend same as sohc 4.6? help!

im looking at a 96gt with a 4.6 cobra engine out of a 96-98 cobra dohc, i know the bottomends are stronger for the cobras, but are the blocks the same? the engine is bad in this car, i have a stock bottomend out of a 96gt and was wondering if i could take the heads and intake from the cobra and use them on it, i dont know much about the 4.6 this will be my first one, any help??? thanks brad

the blocks are different as the Cobra engine is an aluminum block and the Gt is iron, you can swap-over the parts but you should check PTV clearences and the flywheel/crank bolt pattern is different so you need the correct flywheel
