I am thinking of getting a 96-98 mustang Gt. And was wanting to see some pics of some modded ones. What makes them look good and what will make them make more power? I know a PI swap but what else is there to make some good power and are there any other good updates I would be able to do that the 99-04s have? What kind of power will I make with PI swap and or other things? What is it making stock? Thanks for the help. Now lets see some pics.

IMO the best exterior mods u can do to an SN95 are the 94-98 cobra front bumper, 95 Cobra R hood, 96-98 Saleen S281 spoiler, Cobra headlamps, & deep dish offset wheels , with a drop from either H&R supersports, or eibach sportlines....PI swap is the best way to get more power out of a 96-98, or u can get a 94-95 & have the 5.0 motor.....

Cool another chance to pic whore...Heres my 95 GT & my old 97 Cobra...The only exterior mods are wheels & lowering on both cars....

I believe the 96 and 97 make 215 horses (@ the crank) and the 98 makes 225 due to an "aggressive tune." If you do a complete PI swap, that should get you up to par with the 99-04's, which are around 260 horses. But you will have higher compression. Everyone is going to say it, so I might as well head them off, but you be better advised to get a 99+, less hastle, more stock power, etc...

What's the biggest tire you can put under a 96-98? Is it the same as the 99-04's or what's the difference?

Ive seen people fit 335's on the back...I run 275's up front & 315's on a 17x10.5 in the rear with no issues....Of course u usually have to remove the quad shocks to fit these & u might have issues with some 2 1/2 inch aftermarket tailpipes....

The rearend on the 99-04 is 3/4 inch wider per side than the 94-98....

275's up front and 315's out back are what most commonly suggested for a daily driver. 96-98's can be more sexy IMO but need some help for power, w/ PI swap your ahead of a stock 99+, without you arn't looking at a lot of power. Mods wont help a whole lot, but gears i suppose did for me. Mostly it's been my tranny.

i think 315's arn't a problem on 96-98. If it is you can always turn it upside down for clearance, it shouldn't effect it's applicability

Good point!!!! I obviously I dont, because I got rid of my gas saving 86 Jetta GLI to get a 5.0 mustang....talk about a major difference in gas mileage...

Yep.

Oh, and to the original poster... 96-98 GTs are great cars reliability wise, and are comfortable and atleast IMHO they look sexy

In the not so distant future i plan on doing a PI swap. Either that or a s/c.

Ive seen some bad ass 99-04 stangs but they just dont flow like 94-98.

94-98 stangs are sexy if theyre actually taken care of. 95 percent of the ones I see are beat v6 ones that look like hell.

Heres my car..I dont know If I like the chin spoiler yet.

A 96-98 with a headswap is going to be a bit stronger than a 99-04 because of the compression.i have a 96 and i think its great kinda being the underdog and its not as common,at least around my parts to see a real nice 94-98 especially 06-98 because ppl are turned away by the stock power.all it takes is some mods your going to do regardless of what year ya have.heres a ****ty pic of mine. camera phone pics are horrible but its all i got until i paint it over the winter.
