Hey,

I am looking at 96-98 stangs and was wondering if there where any technical differances between the years? Basically what i'm saying is one year more disireable than the others?

96-98 = 215 hp 285 torque NPI heads, cams, and intake manifold
99-04 = 260 hp 302 torque PI heads, cams, and intake manifold

PI = performance improvment, yes you can easily swap PI parts into a 96-98 car.

Close. 98's were rated at 225 hp due to improvement with the tune. I know it's picky, but every little bit helps. The fuel pump is also different than the 96/97s - it's got this basket deal around it. 98 GTs also doesn't have an STB. I'm installing a Steeda Chrome Moly one right now.

A 98 4R70W is better than one built in 97. The 98 did use better parts than the 97. You can take my word for it or not I don't really care. I have posted links with this info enough times that I don't feel the need to anymore!

Try up to mid-year 2001. And that isn't the plastic intake, it's the coolant crossover.

'98 has fewer mod parts because it's a crossover year. Can still be made a monster with enough research. Ask Hammer on MustangWorks with his N/A monster '98 (YellowJacket).

'98 = 225hp stock.

Yea except the ugly horizontal tail lights, but then again u can just take some OEM tail lights from a 96-98 I believe they directly swap with each other.

Ummm this statement is crapola . Anybody who knows anything about mustangs is going to price a 99 higher than a 98. If u took a 98 with x amount of miles and took a 99 with the same x amount of miles the 99+ should be I would say at miniumum $500 more. Of course there is always stupid people who try to overprice there POS NPI cars, but like I said anybody who knows anything about mustangs will price a 99 higher, plus its a newer body style so therefore that means more $$$.

From my reasearch around my area, '99s go for at least $1000 more than a '98. And I'm a po boy these days so its gonna be a long term project.

And to 215what: I had a '93 that I had about $10000 of parts straped on before I killer her, so I kinda want to work on something different. Like a newer body style and 4.6.
