96 cobra problem

my 96 cobra is sputtering a little around 3500 rpm and 5500 rpm.
im hearing a tapping noise comming from the left side of the motor.
the check engine light is on , the code is P1443 manufacturer control
auxiliary emission control
i changed the pcv valve but no help , i was thinking the O2 sensors
maybe.

o2 sensor is my vote!

generally that code is for the EVAP system purge control solenoid. whatever scan tool you used must not support manufacturer specific data.

when was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

last filter change was before christmas.
and i used the little orange code reader you can get at advanced auto

Check to make sure your H-Pipe bolts are tightened down against your headers/ manifolds...if its not tight, it will cause that type of sound and the oxygen let in will make the O2 sensors throw codes. Also the codes and bad exhaust flow will cause your car to sputter. hope that helps, Good luck.
