Where can I get step by step directions for changing these, can I replace them w/o taking control arms off...is there a tool i can rent where i dont have to take the control arms all the way off(press out-press in new BJ) if so who has it and what is it call. Id rather not replace CA's with new 03 or 04. Thanks

The 03/04 Cobra A arm is the same A arm with a revised 99+ ball joint and a set of stiffer bushings. As far as I know there is no physical difference in the A arm itself.

Is your car lowered ? If it is, then I suguest these:

If not then just use stock parts or use those and you can lower your front end 1/2 an inch.

There is a tool to do this service without removing the A arm from the car. It looks like this:

I would recomend yanking the coil springs just for safety when you are doing this.

He is right. A-arm is the same, ball joints and bushings are better. You do not have to remove the springs of a arm. You can rent a tool that you use with an impact gun. It threads upward and pushes the baal joint out. It does the same thing to install it.

I recommend getting a Moog ball joint. I installed these in my 93 control arms. They are tight as can be, made in USA!!! and they have the grease fittings.

Best thing for you to do is to get a Chilton/Haynes manual for your car, there is also a Disc you can download off of www.fordcds.com which is the Ford service manual. 99-04 years are practically the same.

the fordcds site is down for now so check periodically to see when it's up
