Hey guys,
This is my first post. I decided to drive to work with my top day due to it being a beautiful day. I get to work and try to put the top up. Of course nothing happens. I tried to reinitialized the parking brake a few times. Nothing. I checked the fuses (both of the conv. top fuses, high and low current, as well as the switch fuse). All seem fine. When I try the conv. top switch, the motor seems not to be running at all, so I don't think it is a hydraulic leak or anything like that. Could it be the parking break sensor that has gone? I am out of ideas at the moment. Help from anyone with similar experiences would be mucho greatful.

Thanks guys.
Dave

Got a good source for conv. top wiring diagrams?

Just checked my Haynes repair manual. Nada.

Is that gonna hurt the hydraulic lines and/or motor if you raise it by hand? Thats the main thing I am worried about.

I replaced both relays at the motor, no go. I am thinking it is either the switch or the parking brake sensor, both of which I have to tear out the console, argh!!!!

well, last night I checked the vert switch with a tester, no probs. I put everything back together and tried the switch again. This time I heard a clicking coming from the vert motor. I'm pretty sure that was the relays clicking. I guess that means I have a bad vert motor or the power connection is bad somewhere between the relays and the motor. I ended up pulling up the top very slowly while having my roomate hold the switch down. I'll have to check all of this during the weekend (as long as Wilma stays away from N. Florida). Thanks for you help, guys.

When you take the back seat out you can very easily access the motor and its wiring harness...
