97 Stock System Question

I just purchased a 1997 GT. I would like to put a stock CD player in it. It does not have Mach 460/Premium Sound. The back of the AM/FM/Cassette unit has 2 long plugs. My question... Can I add a Ford CD player below it? Or is there a better way to get a CD player. I would prefer to stick with Ford units and really do not want a remote CD changer. Any help would be appreciated.
