Help!! I bought a 97 Coupe for my daughter. It is a fixer upper. It appears that the car was broken into, driver door lock popped and the radio stolen. I have replaced the door lock including a new lock position sensor. But I still have a problem with the security system. Here are the symtoms. 1) With doors closed - No alarm. 2) Door open - "theft" light in dash flashs. 3) Turn ignition on - "theft" light goes off. 4) Start Engine - No light. 5) Manually lock doors with no key in ignition - "theft" light flashes and alarm (horn) goes off in about 15 seconds. 6) Remotely lock doors - "theft" light flashes and alarm (horn) goes off in about 15 seconds. I can't use the car because you can't lock the car. Question: Because the radio is missing, is that causing the security system to stay in Theft mode. Any ideas what the problem is? Is there a way to turn the security system OFF perminently? Is there a publication that describes the security system in detail? I bought a Haynes Shop Manual but no info in security. Thanks for any help!
