the clutch on my 98 cobra is hard to push in. the car has been sitting most of the winter and i'm hoping its just cold and needs to be driven for a while to loosen up but i'm also concerned that it may be time for a new one. anyone else experience this when their car is sitting for a while?

Did you try adjusting it? I don't know how it could have moved though. This seems strange.

i didn't try adjusting it and it is strange that all of a sudden its difficult to press the clutch in. i am goping to start driving it now and hopefully it will loosen up. if not i guess i'll have to let someone take a look at it.

A lot of times the clutch cable is the cause of a stiff pedal.

I have also had a similar issue with my 98 Cobra, I do think that part of it may be the weather. I store mine for 6 months a year and often wonder why it doesn't seem to feel or run like it did the summer before. I think this may be two part - cars are not made to be stored but rather driven and when it sits it doesn't shift/steer/feel like butter. I thought I had a serious problem last weekend when I started mine and drove it around the block. I thought the tranny was toast with only 50K but in reality, I washed it and put it away in a non-heated garage for the rotors slightly rusted(as they do everytime you wash it) but it was fine by the time I drove it a 1/4 mile or so. Secondly, it is like a well oiled machine without the oil, it doesn't seem to work right. But it's really just needs to be moved and driven to lubricate all the necessary cables, fittings, etc. I would think things will shake out fine and would not be so quick to run out and get a new clutch. It's not a problem when the clutch is stiff but when you can shift without a clutch, you know you are SOL.
