i just got a t45 from a 98 cobra off of ebay for a pretty good deal. is there anything different between the cobra and gt tranny? i need a new throwout bearing so I know to replace that, but should i also replace the clutch and shift fork? if so, what clutch would I need? how hard is this to accomplish in my garage? sorry for all the questions, but I need to get this done asap! thanks!

pretty much the same setup. Just a few minor differences. The only difference between the 97 Borg warner(actually tremec as they bought BG out in mid 96) is they changed the reverse lockout on the 98's and that is it.

how hard is it to switch tailshafts?? i also just ordered a king cobra clutch and mgw shifter..anything else I should get before I tackle this?

Not hard at all. I did the same thing on my '98. Bought a '96 Cobra T45 and swapped the tailshafts and it bolted right in.

ok, i got the tranny and indeed, it is the cobra one. according to hanlon, the tranny to crossmember mounting point is 3.86 inches further back on the cobra tranny. I have 2 options here. switching the tailhousing is option #1. #2 is I can drill out the spot welds that hold the crossmember to the frame and move it back to fit accordingly. which one would be my best option?
