If you can get your stang in the high 12s you'll beat most of them. One dude had a stock 2002 Z-28 running 13.5s Another dude had same car with slight mods and drag radials running 13.0s.

Your putting down about 275 rwhp in stock trim. Get a cold air kit, underdrive pulleys, aftermarket exaust, sticky tires, 4.10 gears, quick throw shifter, a custom chip tune and you'll be around 308 to 315 rwhp.

why is it that the cobra is said to have 320 but you are all saying differently?
i plan to put 4.10's, cold air, and new pulleys on it this summer..i'll save the major mods for later

320 is a flywheel number, the cars actually put down, let's say, between 270 - 280 to the rear wheels, known as rwhp.

careful with 4:10's

I put 4:10's in mine and I dont know if that was the right move or not, I should of went 4:30's. Why you ask, here is what I have ran into, I can go approximatley 95 mph in second gear then I have to shift to third. Well guess what right at the line on the quarter mile I have to shift which can cost you tenths or maybe seconds depending on the shift. I figure if I went with 4:30's I could run the quarter in first and second and get better times. Dont get me wrong the 4:10's are a huge diffrent and they feel powerful specially in first. But just remember lot more shifting with the 4:10's. Think it through and if you get them let me know what you think

I've been hearing that a lot lately, go with the 4:30's. At first it was 4:10's, but now the 4:30's seem to be the favorite.
I'm wondering if that is to steep of a gear. My car isn't a daily driver, so I guess it could work. How do the 4:30's feel? Do you even start off in 1st gear? Are these for a mostly 1/4/track car? My car might see some 1/4 action twice a year, would that be to much gear for mostly around town driving?

On a side note, I bet you would tear up some camaro's and ta's with those gears

True, with higher gear ratio you have to shift more often. You gain quicker acceleration at the trade off of loosing top end speed. 4.10 gears is a good choice. Just curious though, stock gear of 3.27 in 99 cobra: 2nd gear tops out at 77mph. When you switched to 4.10 gears you should be shifting a lot sooner, way before reaching 95mph. With 3.73s, 4.10s or 4.30s you'll need to use 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear to go the 1/4 mile if your tire size is close to stock. Otherwise you'll hit the rev limiter while in 3rd gear.

If you short shift with 410s, is there any way to cross the line in 3rd?
