The other day, i went to roll my windows up and nothing happened. i opened my door about halfway and they worked fine again until i shut the door, but when the door is shut, both windows wont work. i put a tester to the connections that connect to the red and yellow window motor wires and the tester lights up when i hit the door switch. any other tests i can do to try to rule out a bad window motor? Im thinking its something in the wiring becaue if i move the wiring bundle that goes from the door to the inside of the car, the windows both work but will stop working when i stop moving the wires. any help appreciated!

still nothing!

still no progress i did find something out though. When the keys are in the ignition and its turned so that you can roll the windows down, the door bells dont ring until you touch a 12v tester to any of the wires on the back of the window switch. so when you touch the tester to any of the wires (where the wires go into the switch), the bells ring, while the doors open. but when you keep the tester on the wire and hit the window switch, the bells stop and the tester lights up. Same goes for the wires that come off the window motor, touching them with the tester makes the bells go off and once ya hit the switch the bells stop and the light comes on. Ive been told it could be a broken wire in between the door and the inside of the car in that group of wires but i cant find anything
any help appreciated!
thanks guys

Look at the wires where they pass through the door and door jamb. It isn't going to be fun but you may have to cut open the loom so you can see the wires and trace them all back one at a time. It sorta sounds like you lost the ground for that circut. When you touch the light to the wires it connects the ground through the tester.

You'll need to open up the harness and inspect. Most cars I have worked on, all windows run through the master switch, so that explains both windows not working.

ok so your sayin test all the wires and the one that doesnt light the tester up is the one that i need to trace right?
