Yes, lots of people here have done it. Do a search for headswap as stated above. Also, stock for stock or comparable mods, a 96-98 with the PI heads might put out 5-10 more horses due to a bump in compression.

It's a pretty popular mod for the 96-98 cars. I'm just going with the PI intake manifold with adaptor plates myself...that's a little bit cheper still gain some HP over the stock set-up.
the pistons in the 99+ cars are dished to 17cc while the early ones are 11cc
non-pi pistons with non-pi heads = 9.28:1 CR
non-pi pistons with pi heads = 10.52:1 CR
pi pistons with pi heads = 9.66:1 CR
or.. just for completeness of results..
pi pistons with non-pi heads = 8.63:1 CR
all using standard gaskets etc...
Im planning on going for ported & polished PI heads, blower cams and PI pistons so I can keep the lower compression to go with my blower and forthcoming NOSzle kit.
