A/C belt whine.

Hey all,
When I start my '02 GT, everything's cool. Once I turn on the A/C, though, it makes what sounds like a belt whine for about 10-15 seconds. Just started doing that this week. Something serious or just inconvenient?

In all seriousness though - you should check your belt or the pulley on the compressor. Get some prestone belt spray and see if that does the trick. It helped me earlier on in the year with pulley chatter. Could potentially be a bad omen of compressor failure in your future. And that's no good here in Florida, it's too damn hot!

Maybe the belt needs to be changed. The tensioner pulley might be at its maximum travel thus not achieving enough tension.

Check if you can turn the A/C by hand with the engine off, just to discard A/C compressor seizure.

There could also be some denim stuck in the pulley/idler wheel.
