a/c drip...caused hole in H-pipe

I have an exhaust leak in my H-pipe. This is the 4th one I've had to replace. The problem is the a/c condensation drips onto the H-pipe. This is the normal drip I see on all cars running the a/c here in hot FL. On the right pipe the water drips and then collects where the first (closest to header) cat used to be. The water pools in the bend and over time corrodes the pipe creating a hole. It seems the stock cat being wider caused the water to spread out more. Anyone ever have to re-route the a/c drip or create some type of plate for the water to hit prior to the H-pipe? I was even thinking of wrapping that area with header tape to cover/protect the metal.

i took some small pipe an re-routed it outside the engine bay down by the bottom of the fender under the splash shield. i had the same problem you did, and it got very tiresome. it has worked so far and i havent had any problems. hope that helps.

Even a piece of rubber hose should work. Mine drips on it too, but it's never rusted out. I just changed to a stainless steel off-road H, and forgot to check where it hits now. I don't really use my A/C that much though.

How could it puddle on your mid pipe. Mine drips on it but it just runs off or gets burned off when i drive it. I dont see how it could puddle on it, its a round piped it just goes around it and beads off.

How long has the pipe been on there? Seems like it would take a very long time and a lot of use for that to happen. My old BBK h-pipe had nothing of the sort after around four years of that.

I don't now if it really puddles or not but when the car is parked in the garage, you can hear the water drip onto the hot H-pipe. When I removed the H-pipe due to the leak (sound change) I discovered a dime size hole with a larger discolored circular stain around the area mentioned. My only guess is that the water pools there after the pipe cools. Is the water that corrosive?

I've had the car since new. Changed the cats to o/r in 1997, so in roughly eight years I've changed H-pipes four times. I used BBK, MAC, and I believe a Dr Gas X-pipe once. All developed a hole in the same spot where the a/c drips onto the pipe.

I'll try that, if not maybe its the quality of the pipe and I'll have to look for stainless steel. Here in south FL we use the a/c 24/7 year round. Our winters last a day, week at most in the mid 40's otherwise 80's and humid.

Yeah i hear mine slizzle on the hot X pipe too but i have had mine for 2 years or so and havent seen anything like that. Mines a BBK Xpipe.
