Does anyone have a write up, tips or diagrams for re-installing Air Conditioning? This Alabama heat is getting to me. Any idea how many cans of freon I need?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have, it works reasonably well, but has the same cooling shortfalls as R134.has anyone used freeze 12?
has anyone used freeze 12?
Honestly, it's just easier to get R-12.
I got the license for $20 and bought a bunch of cans off Ebay for about $25 each shipped. Locally R-134A has creeped up to $20/can anyway.
I'm compiling the parts ot put A/C back in my car. I can look back and itemize what I bought/needed but it wasn't cheap. I basically bought everything new, and Rockauto.com was a great source. I tracked down a high vacuum pump, the refrigerant (3 cans of R-12) and oil. Cost was high. I think i'm near $400ish in parts. I figure for what i was spending, an extra $20 or so to get R-12 was worth doing it right.
I realize everyone says R-12 is expensive and hard to get, but how many R-12 cars are out there now? R-12 was phased out nearly 20 years ago. So the market for it is much less. As a result, i've had good luck buying cans off ebay for a good price
