Hello everyone,
I own a 96 GT, and my a/c low side service port is leaking freon. I took the cap off, and noticed the shrader valve core is broken off, and I can't remove it with the tool. Is there a way to get it out so I can install a new valve or can the entire service port be remove, and a complete new one with valve core installed? My a/c is blowing hot air, and I've jumpered the low side switch and got the compressor clutch to work. I bought a new switch, and installed it, but the clutch still won't engage. I want to get the shrader valve taken care of first before trying to fix anything else. Much help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you absolutely positive there is a replaceable core inside the service port? Many don't have field replaceable cores. Instead it's just a flap. Which if you aren't familiar with the design might be mistaken for a broken core.

They make a service part that will replace the service part with a screw on part that will keep the original port open and seal the system with a standard valve core.
