a/c thumping noise

My car makes a thump noise and it comes and goes when I have the a/c on. Is this normal?

Does it kinda sound like a "schick" noise, once every few minutes? And when it happens, there's a tiny, momentary fluctuation in power?

If so, then yes unfortunately it's normal. I believe the sound is of the A/C clutch going in and out. Annoying. Previous cars of mine never seemed to do this...

I think there is a TSB on this so you may want to check with ford, it has to do with part of the ac hitting the firewall...
