My compressor was kicking on and off more often than it should so I got a can of R134a and it took about 6oz and the low side pressure was riding where it should. Next morning when I hit the defrost i didnt feel the compressor kick on. Popped the hood and there is green dye all over the place under the low side valve. I can't get it to seal. I tried rotating the pin but it just keeps bubbling.

Can you replace just the valve core or does the whole thing thread off like the old ones? Any ideas?

Yea, I think you must replace the valve, I think its a schrader valve. But, you must depressurise your system first.

The core is serviceable. Service just like a tire only bigger. Suggest that you do both high and low at the same time. Also, replace the covering cap. There is an O-ring in the cap that help protect against slow leaks.
