Since my tach is way off now ( http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=494910 ), I was thinking about ways to get an accurate reading for shifting. I dont want a gigantic tach that mount on my dash cause I dont realy like the way it looks but I was wondering avout shift lights. Can you make them come one at different RPMS for different gears? IE: 5800 in firstm 5600 in second...... How do you adjust them and whats a good kind? I want a small one that I can fit behind my AC vent. I noticed my MSD 6btm has a plug fir a tach or a shift light, I forgot. Can I use that for soemthing?

You can run a shift light off of the 6BTM by tieing in to the ignition wiring. But it usues an RPM pill setup and so you can't get different RPMs with each gear. To the best of my knowledge, the "lowest" MSD module that does that is the 7 series programmable (but I may be mistaken).

From what I know, a shiftlight will only light up at whatever rpm you programmed it. Most of the lights use pills which suck. Mine is adjustable at every 100 rpm. Its the Raptor shiftlight. Do a search on here and you'll see a few people that use it and love it.

So whatever gear you are in, it will always light up at the same rpm.
