A few engine related questions....

I've done a search already, but nothing I found is concrete..

I've got a 86 302 block out of a Bronco, I'm wanting to run roller lifters, for several reasons..... But I'm not finding the answers I need..... I see no problem doing this, I have all the stock roller 302 parts to do this, but I'll probably buy new lifters..... I should beable to just grind down the bosses ( to the right height ofcourse, since they are not the same ) in the lifter valley, drill and tap threads, and bolt the "spider" on, right??

Also, some conflicting issues on that... How much lift can I go with the stock setup?? Read something about the H-holders ( or whatever their called ), coming into contact with the lifter, and lifting off the deck surface.... But what I read also said something about this being a non roller engine converted to roller, and the lifter bores being shorter?? I dont see any difference in my block and a roller block as far as bore heights, I will double check though once the block gets back from the machine shop.... I have a roller block, but it needs bored and all that good stuff.... I have plans of building that engine later on, but the block I'm using now, has already been bored ( I've rebuilt it 3 times ), and needs nothing but alignhoned and some other small things.... Hope someone can clear that up for me. Hopefully I wont have to buy some conversion lifters, a little on the pricey side... I want to go this route, for the different cam profiles I can get ( higher lift without the wild duration ).........

One more thing, I havnt been able to find any ( stock ) cyl heads worth a crap ( surprise surprise )... But I have a set of 68 289 heads laying around..... I dont know squat about these heads other than the obvious... Need some specs on them, as far as combustion chamber size, valve size, what mods can be done as far as increasing valve size if needed.... Also need to know the combustion chamber size on E7 302 heads ( trash ), since this is what I ran before, I'm worried about my compression ratio, I'm shooting for 9.0:1 ( atleast ) this time around, I was nothing close to that last time I ran them...... Wow, 8 whole veiws Anybody know? My block will be back from the machine shop in a day or so, I'll have the bottom end together in 2 weeks money permitting. The heads sent off shortly after... I need some answers and opinions so I can deside what I'm going to do.... If I dont set myself to something, this thing is going to end up stroked when a blower sitttin on top of the engine Not really a bad thing, but I dont think my checking account will like it to well..... I want this car on the road by June, so I'm trying to do it the best/cheapest way possible for right now and in the future when I build the other engine this winter, this way I can just swap some parts from one engine to the next, such as valvetrain... Easier to buy the stuff now, than when I'm running low on cash during the winter.......
