A few Questions

Hey guys, I'm on the back half of finishing up the car. And I have some questions.

1. My back up lights didn't work, (which is the reason why i originally started this restoration) at first i thought it was a wire connection gone bad, but after replacing the harness, i found out that the entire back up lamp switch was gone. I was going to buy this one, http://www.mustangsplus.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MPFMP&Product_Code=00206
But I don't know how or where to put it in. Any insight on that?

2. Battery relocation. I'm going to put the battery in the trunk. I know the cables will go back, but my question is how do I mount the box that will hold the battery? and what kinda box do i need? can I make one out of plexiglass? do they sell one at autozone? Kraigen? Do I drill into the frame rails? and do I move the starter solenoid to the back as well?

Edit: 3. Center console: any good center consoles out there? it seems like the car is missing something without one. I've seen a 65 clone shelby with one and it looks a lot better.

also,

Does anyone know the Bulb # for the front parking/turn signals? When I was trying to replace mine, the glass part came out but not the metal base :bang: so i had to use a screw driver and plyers to completely twist, and break teh metal part out of shape so now u can't recognize the numbers on it... all i do know is that it needs 2 leads.

I dont know about your car, but..

my neutral safety switch and the backup lights have the sending unit mounted on the transmision directly over the shift linkage on my c-4 tranny. I dont know if this applies to you or not, but it might help ya.

They make a few relocation kits. I can't remember where I got mine from (maybe Mustangs Unlimited or Mustang Depot, but it is pretty slick. Comes with an aluminum box and you just have to mount it with allthread that comes with the kit. As for how the starter relay and wiring go, I have the same questions you do. That was going to be my next question after getting my fuel pump mounted back there. :-)

summitracing.com has plenty of batery boxes. I went with their brand, the delux one I think? Its plenty nice and works fine. I did not drill through the frame, just the trunk sheet metal, with some washers on the all thread.

Mine has a black plastic one from summit in it, and it has bolts on either side to keep it from moving

Best advice I can give you is to ALWAYS put the lid back on and tighten it down, I was having troubles with my car running one night and forgot to tighten it down, I made it about half way home and took a corner a little too fast and my battery tipped over and grounded a hole into my gas tank with the side post from the battery which ran to my msd. There were 2 loud ass pops like a gun going off in my trunk and i knew exactly what it was. I stopped instantly grabbed my fire extinguisher and popped the trunk, there was a wire on fire about 5 inches above a half a tank of gas. Needless to say a dumb mistake could of cost me my whole MSD system, or even worse, my baby could of blew up with me and my buddy in it. :bang:

Nothing wrong with trunk mounted batteries as long as you take the precautions neccessary. I would say to have some sort of hold down on the battery regaurdless if the cover is on or off. Extra safety nets never hurt.
