A head question

I have edelbrock 60329 heads 190in.160ex.Since im going to drop a 306 motor in my car im not sure if i want to keep them.So here is what im stuck on.Should i keep this heads and get some port work done.Im not sure if i could change to a 2.02 valve.Or i can sell these heads,get my pistons notch and buy some afr 185s.Where should i go with this.

Hello Jesse

I'm not sure about the difference between 60329 & 6037 Edel heads

I know for quite some time ... peeps have made some pretty good power
with the 6037 head.

This is only a conjecture on my part ... OK

Seems like the gain going from the Edel to AFR head would be small

What are your .....
long term plans
expectations
budget

Just lay it all out so everybody can throw in their ideas

Well for next year, I will be dropping a 306 in the car. I am going to get a custom cam from Ed Curtis when I find out what intake and heads Ill be going with. My goal for next year is to run a 12.5 N/A and 11s with nitrous. I going to buy a aftermarket k member to lose some weight off the car and suspension will be good to go for next year. My budget is around 2500-3500. Let me know if you need more info.

Since your goal is et related ........
As I see it ...
The first thing you gotta ask yourself is
How committed you are with the whole drag strip thing?

IMHO ... You could obtain a mid 12 sec et with less than 300rwhp
but
You gotta be willing to do up things to be very effective with 60 foots

You know ... suspension, slicks, beef up the trans & rear end

Honestly ... even though you are a bit heavy being a Vert and all

Those Edel heads should take you to 12.5 and better as I see it
if
You have the ability to drive it really aggressive without it breaking

Now ... On the other hand ...........

If you don't wanna go all that far with your drag strip setup .........
You have no choice other than develop more horsepower

the eddy heads you have will more than work to get a 12.5 out of your car and they are paid for if its one thing hard to get good coin out of its used speed parts. I have gone 12.5 and better with stock longblocks and vortech's with 10 psi, and have also run 12.5 and better with old GT40Y heads and eddy intakes with a B cam. It all comes down to how much you want to spend. I would buy a k member and some suspension and start widdling away at ET with what u got and if all else fails throw an S trim or a 100 shot on it. just my 2 cents!
