Ok guys...This has iritated me long enough...
I have a 65 289 bored .030 TRW pistons (discontinued model l3003f), TRW rings (discontinued t8325mx), cloyes timing set, felpro gaskets. Machining was done at a reputable place at the time. I had the heads done, magnaflux heads, valve job, resurface the heads 1 exhaust valve replaced, 2 intake valves replaced. and the cam is a crane cams power max 363901.
All was done in late '91. The car then sat until June this year.
I will say that we never could get it to run "just right" and it smoked a touch then.
We proceeded to buy a rebuilt carb, and dist. at that time also.
Now I have added a pertronix unit, and flame thrower coil.
It now has a "miss" that continues on #8 cylinder. I checked the compression I am getting about 122 in 8 and for reference did the same on #1 got almost identicle reading.
I do get plenty of spark and the wires are good. The plugs all of them seem to be rather carbon fouled.
What would you suspect. The carb I am sure is out of tune...I can't seem to tune a carb to save my life...
Do you think it is in the carb? or the heads?
I appreciate any help...
Ron
