I've not been around in quite some time mostly due to getting promoted at work and getting married. With those two things I've not had a lot of time to even think about the mustang at all. In fact I've only put 3500 miles on the car in the last year.
Well the other day the wife told me I needed to get the car up and running again because she wanted to drive it. That got me to looking at a new trans since the stock T-5 is still alive and kickin but just barely. I also got to talking with my brother about his plans for the turbo kit that he was taking off of his car. In that discussion we worked out a deal and I will soon have the turbo kit sitting at the house.
So with the wife's blessing and with a little help from Uncle Sam in a couple months I hope to have the car back out and faster than it has ever been. I had been thinking of putting nitrous back on the car but when the turbo kit deal came up it was too good to pass up. I am going to stick with the motor that is already in the car since it had never been abused and only has around 9K miles on it. The only change will be a custom cam for the turbo.
So the specs will be:
PTK Turbo Kit with 64mm Turbo
DSS Long Rod 306 in a Sportman Block with ARP Studs and DSS Main Girdle
Holley Systemax Alum Heads
Eldelbrock Performer RPM Intake
BBK 70mm TB
FMS 42lb Injectors with Pro-M MAF. (Incl with turbo kit)
Custom Camshaft
I will probably go to a 3.27 gear as well since I the 3.73 will probably be too much with the torque of the turbo. This kit on my brothers car made 500hp and close to 600ft.lbs with this set up and 8psi and pump gas. Once everything is on I am going to take it down to Pro Dyno in SC and have it tuned and hope to get by with 10-12psi on pump gas.
