the difference in the trim was the area that meets the dash since the dash's are not the same. If the triple pod is a full piece or an overlay that is contoured at the end to fit the later style dash then you will have a problem and will have to run a double pod that overlays in the middle of the a pillar trim or you might be able to fab up the triple one.

that's what I was thinking, you could cut the end and overlay on your trim piece and then bond it or screw it on, worth a try.

I know thats what you want but have you seen the dash gauge clusters they have? mount kinda infront of the passenger see on the dash. Personally I think they look awesome.

yea that would look sweet. your talking about the one that holds the monster tach and 2/3 gauges correct? except i have a different dash than you, and nobody really makes any good gauge mounting options for the 79-86 cars

So pull your skirt up nacy and make some panels to hold gauges. I fit my tach right in the heater control spot and made a nice clean custom black panel that bolts in just like factory so i'll be able to remove it and install the factory heater switch without ever even knowing it was there. I also made a custom panel to replace the monitoring system with 2 gauges. That also can be removed and you'd never know it was there. Get your hands dirty and make some!

And trust me its removable... i would never cut into the dash of a 19k mile '86 GT.... ever!

Its a bad picture but you can get the idea.....
