I have a question regarding the A9L and A9P computers if you are going to use either one in a mass air conversion setup. My car is an 88 5.0 lx 5spd. and I know the A9L computer is for manual trans. cars. However I learned that you can also use the A9P computer if you have to but that computer is made for an automatic. So my question is, will either computer work just as well for my conversion? Is there anything that would have to be adjusted or changed if I use an A9P computer as a pose to an A9L computer because that is specificallly for a manual trans. car. Would I be sacraficing anything if I went with one as a pose to the other? I appreciate any advice I can get. Thanks.

Either computer will work. Some folks here prefer the A9P because it has a more favorable fuel curve in it. You won't be sacraficing anything with either!

The A9P does have a different timing & fuel curve for the AOD's, but either EEC will work. The fuel & timimg curve is there for when the AODs shifts. Some say the A9P is better for a stick for that reason. But when, my car was a 5 speed, I put an A9P to see if it made any difference.. Well, lets just say if there was any difference, the B-O-M (Butt-"O"-Meter) didn't register it.

88 lx

thanks again. I learned more about converting to mass air today than I have in the last 2 months. My motor is almost done being rebuilt. All I am waiting for are some parts to get done at the powder coater to finish things up. I am matching the intake to the color of the car. it should look sharp I think. Anyway, the some new stuff on the engine is an e303 cam, 65mm tb, 24lb injectors, bbk equal length shorties. stock heads and intake. any suggestions or comments?

There are actually a lot more aero fox puters than that, and a lot of them have small differences.

The difference in the L and P was already outlined. The Cobra puter is set up for 24's and has some lackluster programming.

so it sounds to me like an A9P computer with a maf sensor calibrated for 24's would be the best way for me to go for my 88 sd to mass air? as a pose to and EEC-IV from a 93 cobra due to the lackluster programming?

The Gt puter is how I would personally do it, but others might disagree.
