I've got a 99 GT, 5spd, bone stock pretty much besides a bassani offroad x pipe and a set of 2 chambers. I've got a set of MAC shorty headers ordered, 4.10's, and a spec stage 1 clutch. I've got about another $2000 I can put in to the car. The car ran 14.0 at 100mph with 2.1 60' foot the other night but I would like to go low 13's high 12's. I've owned 5 late model Z28's and love them, but I'm trying to convince myself the modular 4.6 can be built on a budget. Any suggestions? I want to stay away from nitrous at the moment but I have givin thoughts to going boosted or maybe cams/heads package... Let me hear some ideas. Thanks in advance.

i'd get the heads p&p and cams, but you'll also need to do some suspension work to keep the 60' times down...if you're looking for high 12s i would also try and do some weight reduction (seat delete, removing spare + jack, etc)

If I was you, put that money away for a little while and get yourself a blower. It's not that expensive for the gains you'll get. Imagine bolting 100+ horses to your car. I can't wait till I have enough money for mine.

The only issue i see is if this is a daily driver a blower and 4.10s might be a problem...if you do get a blower i'd say switch to 3.73s

I would go with some nice suspension mods to improve handling and the appearance of your car. I hate the 4X4 look. Then I would invest in the Accufab 70mm TB and Plenum. If you plan on going blower, then get the 75mm TB. That combo would net you another 12rwhp and the suspension mods would help your 60' time.

return those mac shorties.. they are wasted money.

Get long tubes, 100 shot of NX Wet, chip, etc etc.. and you'll see a low 13 second and high 12 second time slip.

If he goes with LTs he'll need a new mid-pipe...i'd say keep the stock headers if anything and spend the money elswhere (P&P, cams, suspension...or save some more for a blower)

So the MAC headers aren't worth the trouble? I'm wanting to go with a blower but haven't decided which brand. It's daily driven but I only live like 7 minutes from work. How much should I be looking to spend on a supercharger? Also, I've never dealt with the 4.6 internally. Is there any sites out there that has a detailed walkthrough in a cam/head swap? Thanks for the responses. So Do you think I should leave factory manifolds on instead of going with the MAC's?

Also, I'm not in the market for appearance mods at the moment. The car has roush wheels, billet grille, saleen front bumper. I'm wanting a few "go-fast" mods. Another thing, what does the "PI" stand for referring to the 99+ mustangs? How much on average will the plenum and 70mm TB cost? Thanks again.

keep saving. when you get to $4000, get a supercharger. imo, everything else doesn't get you enough bang for your buck.

plenum/tb: about $350

"PI" means "Performance Improved"

Vortech or procharger? I've pretty much narrowed it down between the 2. How much is too much boost on a stock bottom end? Also, what size injectors to run and I assume I'll need a good tuning?

I've been looking at a 8# intercooled p600b procharger. Anyone have any luck with these. Are these units self contained or do they require an external oil source. What's the average power gain with these. Also what's the best way to get the car tuned after the install.

I'm wanting to go boosted now. I've got a little more money to spend so any ideas? I've looked at a intercooled p600b procharger , also a v2 sq vortech. My really only question is what kind of tuning will I have to have with a blower, or will I need any tuning at all?

cancel the shorties, save for the blower, and yes, get tuned.
