I need some advice because the time is getting near to buy a motor.

I have a 94 5.0 block in my garage and I want to build it for my 66. I want to use it because it has never been bored out and is ready for a roller cam. My questions are if I will need a special water pump or balancer or anything for this motor to work in my car? I plan to use the flywheel off of my 70 302 block that is in the car now for the 4 speed. I know that the 94 block does not have the part cast into it where the clutch bar would attach that the z bar pivets on.

If anyone has any experience with this I could really use the advice. I have been buying parts here and there so it will not hurt so much when it comes time to buy the motor.

Also, can anyone advise a cam? This is not my daily driver and I don’t mind a rough idle or using super leaded gas ( For what is it worth in Ca). I know the heads are listed as having a max lift of .544 so keep that in mind. If anyone has something close to what I have I would like to know any dyno numbers or ¼ speeds/time or even if they are happy with it, so I can estimate what I would be looking at power wise.

Here are the relevant parts I have all ready for the 66 coupe:

Performer RMP intake
Edelbrock 600 Cfm Carb
Twisted Wedge 61 cc heads
Trick Flow roller rockers
4-speed
3.50 9-inch with posi
Mustangs Plus 4 core radiator
Generic set of Tri-Y’s from Sacramento Mustang
2.5 inch pipes with "X" pipe
No power brakes

All advice is welcome.

Thank you,

Alex

P.S. Mustang's plus is having a show this weekend and I hope to see some Stangnet folks there.

You CANNOT use a 70 302 flywheel. A 5.0/T5 flywheel will work tho. 5.0 is 50z balance, pre 1981 302 is 28oz.

Using V-belts? Using the 70 pullies? 4-bolt pullies? Using the 70 timing cover? Mechanical or electric fuel pump?

Either way, plug the dipstick hole with a 1/8" freeze plug and use the vintage oilpan, pickup tube, and dipstick setup. You can buy a bolt on clutch pivot.

Dont buy from M+ especially conversion parts unless you like getting overcharged by a large abmount. I hear there service isnt anything to wirte home about either.

Thats a 350fwhp combo, I'd run 10.5:1 and an speedpro cs195r or tfs #1 cam.
