when you send in a mass air meter to get recalibrated what do they do to recalibrate it? Do they mess with the black plug that is on top of the meter? I am wanting to know because I bought an aftermarket meter and put the stock plug on top of it and wanted to know if it was still calibrated to the stock 19lb injectors. Or does the black plug have nothing to do with it? Please I need to know because I think something is wrong with my car and think that this might have something to do with it. thanks
Lou

What kind of MAF is it? If its a C&L then you put your stock plug and electronigs in it and that is not recalibrated its done by changing the sampling tubes.

yeah I have a C&L mass air meter and when my brother and cousin put in my new meter they just took the stock plug and bolted it on to the new meter. So your saying that since I am using the stock plug then my new meter is still only reading a the stock calibration which is set for the stock 19lb injectors? So could this be why my car is bucking at high rpms? So if I get it calibrated for the 24lb injectors or get a new one like pro m for the 24's then I should be okay right? Thanks for the quick response this is buging the crap out of me.

Well you know the tube that brings air to the MAF wires inside the tube? with C&L they change the size of the tube to affect how much air the wires see thus changing the MAF voltages. You can buy the correct sampling tube for 24# injectors or ditch that get get a PMAS(formerly Pro-M) MAF. I would go with the PMAS MAF.

You may be able to attatch it to your stock inlet pipe. But it might not fit. Im not sure what model of Pro-M you bought so that makes it hard to tell. If not then im sure you could go buy some parts and fab up something to make it work.

I'd like to add a bit more to John's great info

Our mafs are flange mount

I suggest moving to a flangless mount when going aftermarket

This method allows you to clock the maf at more points than just 12 3 6 & 9 oclock

Also is easier to rig up home made cai's
