The last few days my ABS light has been coming on intermittently.I have really no clue what to look for with the ABS stuff or what causes it.

So please give me some ideas and things to check out.

Unless it to a dealership that read the ABS brake module, finding the bad ABS sensor maybe a stab in the dark, if you have the funds, it maybe worth replacing all four!

on my 96 I was able to access the ABS codes by jumping out the ABS connector and reading the pulses on the dash ABS light,it steered me right to a bad sensor.I just used a paper clip, and viola.
its prolly just a broken sensor, real easy to swap out.

94-97 you can read out flash codes as above. 99+ have to be read with a scanner. Not sure about 98. Your local Autozone probably won't be able to read ABS codes, have to take it a dealer or somewhere with the correct equipment.

According to Mike97GT the only place you can get a ABS code read
is from a Ford Dealership service department.
You will know nothing unless the code is read. For all you know your
whole ABS module could have failed.
This is a great time to bleed your brakes!

Well let me add a bit of history to this.
Ford had my car just over a month ago and replaced to entire rear-end,So the brakes have been bled. They did put all my stuff back on the new one.I willing to bet that Ford is the reason for my ABS light coming on since this dealership dont know there ass from a hole in the ground.

But get this,Ford replaced the rear with a rebuilt one from another company and instead of me getting the 3:55's that come with it,I get 4.10's...which is fine by me.

But trying to get Ford's techs to realize that a gear change calls for a speedo cal.I had to argue and argue with the tech about this. This is what he told me,
There is no way you have 4.10's.the tag on the rebuilt rear has the Mach 1 codes for 3:55's,but i took it out on the highway with the computer hooked up and I could see nothing wrong.....all 4 wheels turn the same speed and the is no gear/speed sensor in the tranny, but the speedo is 10mph off.

I had to prove them wrong,I had to remove the rearend cover, find the stamped codes on the ring gear, take pics\video with time stamp, then show them. Then I had to goto to Tremec's site for the TR3650 manual, print the page about the speed sensor in the tranny.

So you see the abilities of the techs here arnt that great.Thats why Im willing to bet this is there fault. There is much much more to the story but I dont have that kinda time.

Also even with the ABS light on,I still have ABS...I have tried really hard to lock them...Havnt been able to.

Yeah that sucks bro I got my brakes bled from my local Ford Dealership
and one day later when I was driving my ABS light came on.I tryed clearing
the computer and the ABS light would just keep coming back.I took my
my mustang to a different Ford Dealership and the code said that my
ABS module failed.I am willing to bet that the Ford Dealership you went to
sabotaged your ABS module. From my research I have found it is probably
one or more of your ABS wheel speed sensors failed or your whole ABS
module failed witch is big money to replace. To correct your speedo get a
Dallas Mustang speedcal or a tuner to correct it.
Have you tryed any of the Ford Dealership service departments in Houston
by chance?

I only have experience from one Houston dealer and it wasnt good either....bunch of crooks in the sales department.

As for the Speedo, the warranty company is buying me a DM Speed-Cal,just waiting for it to come in.

Someone correct me if Im wrong, but I thought if the module failed you loose the ABS function and default to old fashion brakes. If thats the case,I still have ABS with the light on.That kinda makes me think its not the module.Wouldnt doubt if they broke one of the rear sensors.

Hopefully I have time this weekend to look it over.

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences.Be very leery about where
you bring your Mach 1.
That's good definitley hook up your Dallas Mustang speedcal so
you don't put unwanted miles on your Mach 1.
If that's the case one of those stupid techs probably didn't hook
up either of your rear ABS wheel speed sensors in the rear or they could have just ruined both of them so you would bring your Mach 1 back again
witch is quite shady. If you have to replace your ABS wheels speed sensors
in the rear don't take a chance and replace both the rears.
