There is a sensor on the side of the reservoir,and if your fluid isn't topped off properly,it(the fluid) will slosh forward while braking,and trip the sensor to come on.It's actually pretty common.

Two different indications.
ABS light = inoperative ABS system
Brake light = E-brake engaged or Brake fluid low
