Hey guys,

I've had this ABS light on for a while now. It comes on after 5 or 10 minutes of driving. Whatever the way was to get the codes off where you jump the two wires together, I tried that but nothing happens because there probably isn't a code in there until I drive. How do I find out what it is? Drive the car until it comes on, pull over, then try it? I dunno, anybody else have this problem?

I've never had any ABS issues personally, so I can't help in the troubleshooting, but I do have this site saved in my favorites for instances such as these:

my abs light too has been acting up. One time I decided to hit the brakes hard, and the front wheels locked up on me. As soon as I can, i'm going to get that checked out.

hmmm. I do have a slightly larger sidewall tire on the back, that is probably the case because this hadn't started until I put my wheels on. I guess I will eventually have to get the right size tires. It just sucks because I heard that if your ABS light is on, no matter what the problem your ABS isn't functional anymore right? Not very good with the bad weather coming up.

Hi
Well slightly won't cause it it has to be quite a bit... I run about an inch difference and don't get the light but when I put my M/T dr's on I have about a 3 inch difference then I get the light in particular when I reach a certain speed, around 45 or so. it is the ratio of the tires.... search abs it's been written about a few times.

you're just going to have to catch it!

Keep a paper clip with you in a U-shape ready to jam in there (Anti-Lock Test connector). when it comes on pull over in a safe place, turn off the car pop-the hood, jump the connector, get into your car with a paper and pencil ready. turn the key to power accessories (do not turn the car on). Abs should come on and count the light bleeps. Blink, Blink, Blink, (Pause), Blink, Blink, Blink, Blink then the abs will stay on. 3 blinks and then 4 blinks corresponds to a Code 34 for example. Your going to have to catch it when its on to get a code. Once you have a code your set. Then someone here can help or better yet look up my thread on my ABS. I forgot who helped me but I am sure they will do the same for you. Good Luck. Its more than likely just one of the sensors. 50 bucks and pretty damn easy to install, especially the rear. Oh and when your abs light is on, you will not have any ABS whatsoever. Very bad news under wet or emergency situations. Trust me. The first thing that you're going to want to do in an emergency situation is slam on your brakes and without the discipline or experience you can really mess yourself up. Try to get the abs working man.
