I think your car will stop faster without, but you of course lose any ability to still steer the vehicle while braking. I was able to avoid an accident because even with the brakes on full, i was able to steer the car to the shoulder. Would have hit them otherwise. Is the winter, snow builds up a little ramp behind the tire once it locks up, and this is supposed to help slow you down faster. I had an Audi 90 series once, and right on the dash was a button to turn it on or off... Sometimes in winter I would be sliding about to hit someone, and I could shut it off while braking. the car would start to slide sideways, but i could avoid the crash.
