AC Delete Kit problems, Bad Squeel from Alternator

I installed a flaming river manual rack. Got rid of the AC and power steering. I installed the March ac delete kit. I have a really bad squeel from my alternator. It actually made my alternator go out. I have tried 4 different belt sizes. I have a 3g alternator (PA Performance) and my gauge is at the first tick mark. When I had all the ac and power steering stuff on, my gauge was at the halfway mark. Anyone have the same problem? I need another solution as soon as possible, I have a road course event to go to.

Is there another kit out somewhere, I am running a smog pump by the way.

sounds like you either have the bracket outta line causeing your belt to rub or you just plain dont have the right belt kinda hard to tell without looking at it.

Your problem is the March kit. It's a poor design and doesn't work well. Skip that and just go with the water pump, crank, and alternator. You can either get the correct sized belt and not use the tensioner or reverse the tensioner and use it.

what size belt will I need. I am running the march crank, waterpump, and alt. pulley. Do I need to get a rod type tensioner?

I like all of their parts except their tensioner relocation idea.

I don't kow the size -- that will vary some. You do not need the rod type tensioner, but that's another way you could go as well. Just be sure you route the belt the correct way and spin the waterpump the correct way.

i agree the march a/c relocator kit is junk.i installed it on my 88 hatch and it doesn't line up properly.i eat a serpentine belt every 2k miles.i just haven't time to reshim it yet.

how is the steering wheel effort on that new rack? I am planning on doing the same job soon. Did you feel an increase in power?

For the rack, don't waste money on it. Cut the hydraulic lines from the valve body to the rams and it will be manual without locking up. Drove my old Capri like that for a few years, no sweat. The march kit sucks, period, I've home built better setups. It allows too much deflection and is a bear to set up.

You can run a non serpentine water pump and redrill your pulleys to keep the serp belt and run a triangle belt setup without the tensioner. Just grab a early style alt tensioner and flip it over and go to the top of the alt on the stock 5.0 bracket. Cut your stock belt to get a wrap length and get a belt on either side of that and try them out. Take the one that doesn't fit very well back. Did that on the Capri too withthe 351 and TT setup. Just takes a little thought and effort to make it work fine.
