Does anyone know how much power the Air Conditioning drains from the engine? Yesterday, I went out to lunch and my friend turned on the AC the same time I accelerated from a stop light. When he did that the car stalled. It was embarrassing. Did it later to test it out and it almost stalled again. Is this normal or should I just not turn on the AC while accelerating?

I've never had that happen. Surely, the A/C robs you of power, but not to the point of your car bogging out.. Take it to the shop man, see if they can duplicate it as well. Whatever it is, it ain't normal!

never to the point of stalling but it bogs my car out pretty bad with it on, also uses way more gas.... unless its extremely hot I just run the one that is one to the left of off on high

I had my car dynoed and forgot to turn off the A/C on my first pull. Come to find out it drains 3 RWHP according to the dyno.

I think there is something wrong. I turned on the AC while at idle and my RPMs drop to a little less than 500 then shot back up to normal.

I thought our cars automatically shut off the AC at full throttle anyway?

Mine died the other day when the a/c compressor kicked on. It has done this before and I have noticed sometimes that the rpms will drop down close to 500 before recovering.
