Okay I'm having some air conditioner problems and I'm hoping you guys can help. First, AC blows no cold air, so we know that's a problem. But that can be fixed with freon. Biggest problem is that when the AC is on my car idles really oddly. Will go up to 1500, then down to about 500. After a minute or two, car will just die. It has done this while driving and is obviously very annoying. When I try to put freon in, the pressure gauge goes all over the place instead of staying in one spot. I really need help with this because it's really hot around here. Thanks for any help.

You should have your system evacuated and refilled to the proper PSI with dye. Then you can check for leaks and know that your system is holding pressure.

Now, I know what you might be thinking. Hey- I can just empty the system myself by pushing in the pins and let all the R134 out- then refill with the cans from wally world. Not the right way, and you can end up doing more damage than good.

The idle air control motor has a lot to do with maintaining your idle when the A/C is on or the engine is under load. I would remove it, and use some throttle body spray cleaner to clean it all up, and see if that helps at all.

When you were refilling the refrigerant, were you doing it on the correct side? Did you have the A/C on full blast when you were filling? The pressure will fluctuate a little bit, especially when you have low refrigerant and the compressor is cycling.

Yeah I had the A/C on full blast. The gauge was going from 0 to 100 psi every few seconds.
