I've had a leak in my system for years and finally got around to throwing some dye in there. Shows that my conpressor has some good leaks and the liquid line where it connects to the evap at the firewall is leaking. I'm planning on just replacing the compressor, but should I also replace the liquid line or just try replacing the o-rings that are on it? Should I replace the dryer line as well while there?

If you replace the compressor, it’s a good idea to replace the dryer. I would replace the o’ring on the firewall line first before replacing the line. Once you get all of the components installed, you’ll need to do a vacuum leakdown test. That will determine if the o’ring replacement did the job. I always overdo that test, like keep the vacuum on it overnight, to insure it’s not gonna leak. Good luck.

Are your (i think i'm getting the names right) accumulator line and discharge line with the insulator all cracked and falling apart? if so it would be a good time to replace those as well just to freshen up the look of the engine bay.

The insulation on mine are all falling apart so when i do service my A/C at some point, i will be replacing those lines purely for aesthetics.

Our cars are up there in age , so while you got the compressor out just go ahead and replace the lines.

Make sure you replace the orifice tube while you are at it.

Is the orifice tube inside the liquid line?
