I was racing and 03 cobra and I accidently revved 1st gear out to 8000 rpms. This is the first time this has happened when I had full traction but it has happened a few times when I didnt have traction. My car seems fine right now but is there a chance something could be wrong? Is this really bad to do? If I loose traction and the rpms shoot up to 8 grand is this bad? Thanks

Have you removed your rev limiter. If you have get it turned back on.

i thought you cant rev pass redline 5800 rpms or whatever

Stock rev limiter is 6000

when I got my car tuned for the supercharger they took the rev limiter off

whoever tuned your car either made a BIG mistake, or is a FN retard. You're lucky as h311 it didn't blow up, and still may have casued some problems not yet seen. Get that fixed NOW !

Why? If you have revved to 8000RPM a few times by accident, i would seriously look into getting that limiter back. If you want to move it up to 6500-6800 or so to make sure you don't hit it, then do that. Bouncing off the limiter at 6500 is a lot better than free-revving to 8000+RPM

stock internals = leave limiter set at 6K !

My rev limiters been higher than 6000 RPM from the time it was stock. I have the dyno guy pull to 6150 every run. Still like the guys said.. put the rev limiter back to 6000 or so to be safe.

You sure you revved it to 8 grand...that is high...or did it just seem that high...with your power I could just see the bottom end just giving way at 7000-7500

Stock rev limiter is 6250. I wouldn't trust these cranks with over 6500, especially on a regular basis.

At least Im not the only one that noticed this, but stock rev limiter is at 6250, not 6000rpms, or 5800rpm which is where redline starts. Getting it cut off = dumb, so get that cut back on pronto!!!

Yeah it's possible to rev it like that. For example, in the AOD transmissions, you can just turn OD off, go down to first and floor it. But once you hit around 7k, you will get serious engine vibration, and fuel shut off (? i think). 8 grand sounds kind of funky
